ADD & ADHD Centre- Children and Adolescents

Mobile Health Consult ADHD/ADD Center is devoted entirely to improving the care of children, adolescents and adults with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) or Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD). It also provides a multidisciplinary approach to assessing and treating children and adolescents with these difficulties.

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) or Attention Deficit Disorder is a neurobehavioural disorder characterized by core symptoms of inattentiveness, distractibility, hyperactivity, and impulsivity. ADHD is thought to be the most common mental disorder, with estimates of its prevalence common among children and adolescents. Some of these children and adolescents find it difficult to concentrate on schoolwork or other tasks and may frequently begin daydreaming. Others become disruptive, defiant and have trouble getting along with parents, peers, or teachers. Executive functioning (planning, emotional regulation, and decision making)is consistently affected as well. Children who struggle with hyperactivity and impulsivity, in particular, frequently have behavioural challenges that can be difficult for adults to manage. It is also possible for both sets of symptoms to exist together, in what is typically called combined type ADHD.

Treatment for ADHD is not just about taking medications. There are many other drug-free approaches that can help Children, adolescents and even adults with ADHD improve their ability to pay attention, control impulsive behavior, control mood swings, and curb hyperactivity. Some of these approaches include:

  1. Biofeedback therapy: This is an excellent intervention for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD). It utilizes deep diaphragmatic breathing techniques and provides physiological feedback. It can help improve attention, concentration and ability to focus on cognitive tasks.
  2. Audio-visual Entrainment (AVE) Device: This is a home trainer that provides brain wave training protocols to improve cognitive functions by enhancing alertness, attention, concentration and memory.
  3. Neurofeedback therapy/ Hemo-encephalography therapy: Neurofeedback is direct training of brain function, by which the brain learns to function more efficiently. It applies to any aspect of brain function that can be measure. Neurofeedback is also called EEG Biofeedback, because it is based on electrical brain activity, the electroencephalogram, or EEG. Neurofeedback addresses problems of brain dysregulation like anxiety-depression spectrum, ADHD and ADD, behaviour disorders, various sleep disorders, headaches and migraines, PTSD and emotional difficulties. It is also useful for organic brain conditions such as seizures, Autism Disorder spectrum (ASD) and cerebral palsy.
  4. Mindfulness Meditation Therapy: This is a mental training practice that involves focusing your mind on your experiences (like your own emotions, thoughts, and sensations) in the present moment.

These approaches or therapy plan are some of the programs or therapies available at Mobile Health Consult ADHD/ADD Centre.
